Hi,

The most possible reason bring this issue should be driver, which may not load properly or be not compatible with current system.

I suggest please try following steps to completely shut down Windows 8 and restart the computer to check the issue:

Open the command prompt. You can do this from the start screen by simply typing "cmd" (without the quotes) and hitting the ENTER key.

Type "shutdown /s /t 0" (without the quotes) in the window that appears, followed by the ENTER key.

If we can get this issue fixed like this, I recommend you to disable fast boot of Windows 8:

How to Turn "Fast Startup" On or Off for a Hybrid Boot in Windows 8 and 8.1

If not, please find the latest driver for your Bluetooth and chipset from manufacturers website and install it to check whats going on.

Then, try to reset BIOS setting for testing:

If the issue still persists, I suspect that Windows fail to detect the Bluetooth device, try this troubleshooter:

To open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

  1. Enter Troubleshooting in the search box, tap or click Troubleshooting, and then tap or click Hardware and Sound.
  2. Tap or click Hardware and Devices, and follow the on-screen instructions.  Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

For further research on this issue, please provide your system information here for further research.

Open System Information by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type System Information, and then, in the list of results, click System Information.  You can save System Information in the TXT file format by clicking File, clicking Export, typing a name for the file, and then clicking Save.

You can upload it to a file sharing service like Skydrive or"Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

I was just recently having the same problem, but I was able to find a quick fix to it. Check the bluetooth model on your computer and then download the latest version of the driver. It did the trick.

You probably already find the fix for it, but I'm posting this for those, who are searching for a solution... :)

Hello everyone.

I also own an Asus, Q550L, that has had issues with the Bluetooth from the first time I tried to use Bluetooth with it. After pairing things would generally function until I would shut the machine down. Then I would have to delete whatever device I was using and let it find and pair it again. I found this page after everything Bluetooth was lost while I was using the machine. When I looked for the "Bluetooth Settings" to go through the pairing I could no longer find anything to do with Bluetooth. Something out of the normal did happen on restart. My machine was in airline mode. No idea of how I could have changed anything when I did the restart for MS update to go through it's paces.

So after searching for long enough to get frustrated do to the methods offered made no sense at all to me for the manner that the problem came up. Finally I went to the "Device Manager". Been awhile since I have even looked for that spot. In years past I would always begin there. I should have this time as well. When I looked at the "Bluetooth" it listed "Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0". When I did the right click one of the options was to "enable". Again, I have no idea of how it became disabled or if all of the functions where working in the first place. After clicking "enable" it was like magic. Bluetooth came to life and now responds better that ever.

In case someone isn't familiar with the "Device Manager" just go to "Search" and type it into the box. Click it when it comes up and try not to go past your knowledge or comfort level.

I hope this might help someone. Sometimes looking over the simple things is the best place to begin.
